At a FAFO new writing night, we give the power to the audience, and they get to vote for ‘the play they want to see more of’ - the one they didn’t want to end.

What is FAFO?

People sitting in a circle and laughing during a group discussion or meeting in a dark room.

This short play gets development support from the team to build a full draft, and then we platform this to the industry.

We’re here to bridge the gap between scratch nights and getting a play commissioned, and we showcase what’s hot, what’s smart, and what’s funny.

What we offer our

winners

The Writer chooses one of the following development pathways:

A woman with short dark hair and earrings pointing with her middle finger in a dimly lit setting, with a dark background and other blurred individuals nearby.

The racial rehabilitation programme

By Jessica Enemokwu

The year is 2025. Five years post-BLM. Racism is over. Society is healing. The black squares on Instagram remain as relics of the allies left behind. Enter Lola. She thinks she’s finally found the missing piece to her Black utopia: Che. They fall in love.
But love doesn’t fix everything. Lola still has a problem she can’t escape. White people.
So she removes herself from society and checks into the Racial Rehabilitation Programme. Because that’ll make everything better… right?
